Meet the Chiropractor

Dr. Kevin J. Loughlin

My first experience with chiropractic was as a teenager when my girlfriend suffered with severe migraine headaches. Her headaches were so bad that she would have to take a large number of Aspirin and go into a dark room because light made the headaches worse. The headaches were disabling and she couldn't function. She was evaluated by the family doctor and specialists and the medical profession had no solutions or help for her. During this period of time a young chiropractor opened an office in our small town of Northborough, MA. Little did we know this would be the answer and solution to correct the problem that was causing these severe migraine headaches.

The doctor of chiropractic found a problem with the alignment of the vertebrae of the neck and this was causing pressure on the nerves which caused the headaches. In about one or two weeks the headaches were gone. Wow!! This opened up a whole new world of natural health care to me which helped the body heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.

After this positive experience that my girlfriend had with chiropractic care I became a patient to improve my health by correction of spinal misalignments (subluxations). This eventually inspired me to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa after receiving a Bachelors degree from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Upon receiving a doctor of chiropractic degree in 1982, I had the opportunity to practice chiropractic for three years in Perugia, Italy where I worked in a large multi-discipline practice which offered chiropractic, orthopedics, physical therapy, and acupuncture. After three years of practice in Italy I returned to Boston, Massachusetts to practice in the North End. This community of Boston gave me the opportunity to continue working with Italian speaking patients as well as the diverse population of Boston. I have special interest in and speak fluent Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. This has enabled me to educate and treat patients of many different cultures and backgrounds.

I believe in the power of the body to heal itself if given the opportunity through proper diet, exercise, psychological well being, and a normal functioning nervous system. The chiropractor's primary role in the health care system is to remove vertebral subluxations (misalignments) that irritate nerves that can affect the way the body functions. Some of the common symptoms that subluxations may cause are muscle tension, fatigue, stress, allergies, headaches, aches and pain, digestive disorders, disturbed sleep, asthma, neck and back pain, and leg or arm pain/numbness.

The chiropractic approach is a natural science, art, and philosophy of healing the body without drugs or surgery. Why not give your body the opportunity to heal with a safe and natural method of health care.
